                Beef Hotpot

In my hometown Shantou, everyone likes eating beef hotpot. My mum often takes me to the beef hotpot restaurant. We order many things, such as beef ball, “nen rou”(嫩肉) and “Chibing rou”(匙柄肉). I throw all the yummy ingredients inside. Mum says we should not leave the meat in pot for too long, because it will be over-cooked and it will be very chewy. We should eat with the sauces. The meat is juicy and tasty. I like eating beef hotpot.

I like Penguins

My favorite animal is emperor penguin. It lives in Antarctica. It’s the tallest penguin in the world. I once watched a video. In the video, I saw four killer whales were chasing a little penguin. The killer whales were fast, but the penguin was faster than the killer whales. Unfortunately, the penguin was tired, so the killer whales caught the penguin and ate it. Oh! Poor penguin! I was so sad!

                                       An Amazing Tent

Today, mum bought me and Ethan a tent. It’s not only beautiful, but also amazing. When we stayed in the tent, amazing things happened. Suddenly, we were in the Antarctica. Then, the tent was an igloo. Ethan and I were two penguins. It’s freezing cold. We hugged each other to keep warm.

Suddenly, we were in the jungle. We saw a female giant appeared. It’s mum and she looked very angry. We were so scared that we ran away.

Then, the tent became a spaceship. We were on a mission. We were looking for a new planet to live. A big rock hit the spaceship and it’s crashing! “Help! Help!”, We cried. “Don’t panic. You’re safe.” Mum said.

Playing in the tent is so much fun!

Tricky Ethan

Ethan is my brother. He is very tricky. One day, he didn’t want to go to the kindergarten, so he told mum that he was sick. He coughed. Then, mum said she would take us to the park, but Ethan could not go with us. Ethan asked, “Why?” Mum said, “Because you are sick.” Then, Ethan jumped up and ran to mum. He smiled and said, “I’m fine now. Can I go with you?”

Ethan is afraid of the dark. The bedroom is dark. If we go to the bedroom, Ethan will say, “Mum, you are brave. You go first.”

Once, mum gave me a coin. Ethan asked me to lend it to him and promised to give it back to me soon, but he didn’t. And he said, “Now it’s my coin!” 

He’s very tricky.

I Like Riding

      Last year, my grandpa bought me a cool bike as my birthday present. I like it very much. I often ride it along Pearl River.  Before I ride it, I will check and double-check its tires, brakes, chain, gears to make sure that everything is good. During the ride, I can see some tall buildings on both sides of Pearl River. Sometimes, I see some big birds are catching fish. It’s interesting.

Once, I rode my bike from my home to Canton Tower. It’s about 5 kilometers. It was very tiring, but I really enjoyed it.

                                    My New Bedroom

    Yesterday, my family moved into our new house. I am so happy! My new bedroom is bright and big with a beautiful balcony. I like my bedroom. There is a big bed and a big closet. I put my clothes inside. I put my Tomica cars on the shelf, and I played my cars on my bed. Sometimes I played hide-and-seek with Ethan on the balcony. Sometimes I put some cushions on the floor and Ethan and I jump on them. That’s my favorite game. Mum hung some photos on the wall and I wanted to hang some star lights over my bed.

I like my new bedroom.

A Visit to Xiaogang Park

Today, I went to visit Xiaogang Park (小公园). It’s very big. There were some old buildings on both sides of the street. Then, I saw a very old post office. It was built in 1890. I thought it was very cool! People wrote letters and sent them as early as one hundred years ago! I even saw a statue of a grandpa and his grandson, who were sending a letter.

I not only enjoyed the beautiful scenery, but also ate some delicious local snacks. My favorite local snack was “Sugar green onion pancake (糖葱薄饼)“. It was made by sesame, sugar, pancake and scallion. It tasted so good. My grandma told me that when she was a kid, she almost ate it every day. That was her favorite food, too.

                                      Driving a “Water Plane”

    Today, I drove a “water plane” with my grandpa. I was a pilot! Before I drove it, I was excited. At the beginning, the “water plane” was on a lake. Then, I sped up and the “water plane” flew into the sky. I thought I was a bird flying high in the sky. Then, the “water plane” dashed to the left and I was so scared. Later, the “water plane” slowed down, hit the tree and crashed, so I played again. The “water plane” sped up again. This time it did not hit the tree. But when the “water plane” was over a lake, time’s up and the game ended. I was a little bit sad.

I like driving the “water plane”.

Family Reunion Dinner

Yesterday, I built a Lego. It was special because it was a family reunion dinner. It’s a very important dinner. There were a lot of delicious dishes on the table, such as braised fish, steamed crab, dumplings and so on. The kids got lucky money from their parents and grandparents, and they were very happy.

I also made some festival decorations, such as Spring Festival couplets, papercut and “Fu” sticker. “Fu” should be pasted upside down. It means good blessings will come.

I like the Lego. I like Spring Festival. I wish I can get much lucky money and become the richest boy in the world!

On the Way Home

It was the third night of the new year. I wanted to set fireworks, but the policeman said we could not play it, so we went home. On the way home, I saw a woman selling things. She also carried a baby covered by a quilt on her back. Her big boy was sleeping on a motorbike. It was very, very cold. Mum asked me, “Why is she selling things at such a cold night?” I didn’t know. Mum said, “Because she had to make a living.” I felt sad for her. She looked like the girl selling matches in my Chinese book. So mum bought two flashing magic sticks for Ethan and me. The woman said, “Thank you! Thank you!” I felt better.

I wish she and her family could have a better life.
